Tommaso Cimini
Milanese lighting designer Tommaso Cimini (1947-1997), creator of the iconic Daphine table lamp, started his career as a technician at Artemide before founding Lumina in 1980. Cimini's journey began in 1975 with a minimalist table lamp prototype featuring an articulated arm, a simple diffuser, and an exposed transformer. His concept, "lots of light, not much lamp," led to the critically acclaimed Daphine, which debuted at the Milan Trade Fair. Cimini's firm, Lumina, known for its sculptural and contemporary fixtures, was later passed to his son Ettore. Lumina's designs are featured in collections like the Brooklyn Museum and Musée des Arts Décoratifs.
