Tias Eckhoff

Tias Eckhoff (1926-2016) was a renowned Norwegian industrial designer known for ceramics and flatware. He apprenticed at the Norwegian School of Arts and Crafts and became head of design at Porsgrund Porcelain until 1960. During the 1950s, Eckhoff was prolific in designing flatware, beginning with his sterling silver Cypress Cutlery (1953) for Georg Jensen. His later designs widened the spoon bases to an egg-like shape, and his iconic Maya range (1962) for Stelton featured nearly circular spoons. In the 1980s, Eckhoff introduced furniture designs such as the moulded stacking chairs Ana (1980) and Tomi (1983).
