Preben Fabricius & Jørgen Kastholm

Preben Fabricius (1931-1984) trained as a carpenter in Copenhagen and studied interior design under Finn Juhl, where he met Jørgen Kastholm (1931-2007). In 1961, they co-founded a studio that produced several furniture design classics, aiming for timeless aesthetics. Their work emphasized form, material, and ergonomics, influenced by Scandinavian design and Bauhaus principles. In the late 1960s, they designed the FK bucket seat, an icon of minimalism and modernity, which won the Federal Prize for Good Form in Germany in 1969. Today, the FK remains one of Walter Knoll's most iconic designs.
