Poul Kjærholm
Born in Øster Vrå, Denmark, designer Poul Kjaerholm (1929-1980) began his career as a cabinetmaker's apprentice in 1948 and graduated from the School of Arts and Crafts in Copenhagen in 1952. He later taught there and at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in ultimately becoming a professor. Kjaerholm's furniture designs feature a simple aesthetic, prioritizing clean lines and material beauty, often utilizing steel frames alongside natural materials like wood, cane, and leather. He advocated for industrial production and created iconic pieces such as the PK22 and PK24 chairs, produced by E. Kold Christensen and Fritz Hansen.
