Paolo Rizzatto
Milanese designer-entrepreneur Paolo Rizzatto (1941-) established his architectural studio in 1968, debuting with the Segrate Daycare Center in 1972. In 1973, Rizzatto designed the iconic Mod 265 Wall Lamp for Arteluce, which is still produced by Flos. His focus on smaller-scale designs, particularly lighting, led to the founding of Luceplan in 1978 with Ricardo Sarfatti, the son of Gino Sarfatti of Arteluce. His D7 Light, created in 1981, earned one of his four prestigious Compasso d'Oro awards for its sleek, lightweight design. Rizzatto's work is represented in collections at New York's MoMA, London's Victoria and Albert Museum, and Paris' Musée des Arts Décoratifs, among others.
