Michele De Lucchi
Michele De Lucchi (1951-) is a noted Italian architect-designer known for his experimental work since the 1980s. He studied architecture in Padua and Florence, graduating in 1975, and collaborated with the radical design group Cavart before joining Studio Alchimia in Milan under Ettore Sottsass. In 1980, he co-founded the postmodern design group Memphis, which aimed to disrupt traditional design through bold colours and innovative shapes. From 1992 to 2002, De Lucchi served as Director of Design for Olivetti, creating experimental products for major brands like Compaq and Philips. He received a Compasso D'oro design award with Giancarlo Fassina for their well-known Tolomeo series of lamps.
