Marc Newson
Marc Newson (1963-) has worked in Sydney, Tokyo, Paris, and the UK, where his company, Marc Newson Limited, has been based since 1997. He previously served as Creative Director of Qantas Airways and is currently a Designer for Special Projects at Apple, contributing to the Apple Watch. Newson studied Fine Art at The University of Sydney and held his first solo exhibition in 1986 with support from the Australian Crafts Council. He began his career crafting timepieces and furniture, including the Embryo Chair, which is still in production. In 1988, he created the Lockheed Lounge, a riveted aluminum chaise longue that set four auction world records for work by a living designer.
