John Astbury

John Astbury is an English-born, Swedish-based designer with a diverse background in anthropology, boat building, and music. After studying anthropology and sociology in England, he pursued product design at Konstfack in Sweden, graduating in 2011. He established his eponymous studio in Stockholm in 2014. Astbury draws inspiration from archetypes and origins, describing his work as a "process of uncovering narratives and symbols within the object and making them visible." He re-examines fundamental elements to explore innovative possibilities and infuse purpose into design, driving it in new directions.
