Henning Koppel
Henning Koppel (1918-1981) was a pioneering Danish designer known for his functionalist approach. He studied sculpture at the Royal Danish Academy and in Paris, then fled to Sweden during WWII. There, he designed for Orrefors Glassworks, renowned for its glassware. Upon returning to Denmark, Koppel joined Georg Jensen, creating groundbreaking jewellery and hollowware. His diverse work ranged from stainless steel cutlery to unique signature pieces, lighting, and even postage stamps. Koppel's designs combined organic forms with elegant proportions, evolving from sculptural to streamlined aesthetics while emphasizing utility and individual expression.
