Greta M. Grossman
Greta M Grossman (1906–1999) was a key figure linking European design to California modernism. After establishing herself in Sweden, she immigrated to Los Angeles in 1940 with her husband, jazz bandleader Billy Grossman. Her work gained recognition in the 1950s and ’60s, with pieces featured in magazines and photographed by Julius Shulman. She opened her first shop in Stockholm in 1933, followed by the Magnusson-Grossman Studio on Rodeo Drive. Her compact, functional style appealed to career-minded women, and her innovative homes (1949-1959) further solidified her legacy in American modernism.
