Giancarlo Mattioli
Giancarlo Mattioli (1933-1985) was an Italian designer, architect, urban planner, and painter. After graduating in architecture, he co-founded the Urban Architects Group Città Nuova in 1961, alongside Pierluigi Cervellat, Umberto Maccaferri, Franco Morell, Gianpaolo Mazzucato and Mario Zaffagnini. The group is particularly renowned for the Nesso lamp, which draws inspiration from the graceful form of a jellyfish and is emblematic of the era. Mattioli's approach was characterized by innovative thinking and a deep commitment to civic engagement. His work as a manager in Bologna's urban planning department allowed him to influence the city's development.
