Bodil Kjær

Bodil Kjær (1932–) is a distinguished Danish architect and professor, educated in Denmark, England, and the USA. She practiced architecture, design, and planning from her offices in Copenhagen and London. Before becoming a tenured professor at the University of Maryland, Kjær collaborated with engineers, sociologists, and planners to create adaptable work environments for institutions like Oxford and Cambridge universities, Penguin Books, and IBM. Her approach emphasized user involvement in design. Early in her career, from 1955 to 1963, Kjær developed innovative architectural elements, including furniture, lamps, and glass, which gained international recognition.
