James Carpenter's distinctive vision is conceptually founded on the optical properties of materials and light as they reveal the presence of nature. Initially studying architecture before concentrating on the fine arts, Carpenter exhibited in North America and Europe through the 1970s, creating immersive film installations. Carpenter established his studio in 1979, which applied these aesthetic principles to transform the public realm.
